REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene

The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene course is designed to give food handlers, i.e. anyone that has contact with food directly or indirectly, a basic knowledge and understanding of the causes of food poisoning, measures for prevention and the legal aspects of food hygiene in Scotland. This course is relevant to anyone working in or planning to work in Hospitality, Catering, Care Sector, Food Retailing, Food Processing and Food Banks or any other food related industry.

The course syllabus covers: –

– An introduction to food hygiene
– Bacteria and their characteristics
– Food poisoning and its prevention
– Personal hygiene and food handling
– The working environment
– Food pests and how to control them
– Effective cleaning practices
– HACCP
– Food legislation

This 1-day course includes a 30-minute lunch break and ends with a 30-minute multiple-choice exam. On passing the exam, you will achieve an industry recognised certificate awarded by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS). We are an accredited REHIS training centre, and our courses are delivered by experienced and accredited tutors.

The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene course has been independently rated on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 5 with 1 credit.
